ROBIN INTERVIEWS HER FRIENDS ON VILLAGE VOICE RADIO
HEATHER HUNTER, Adult Entertainer
Heather is one of the most popular adult film stars of the 20th century as well as the most popular black adult film star in the world. She has been in the adult film industry for an ironic thirteen years, but let's call them her lucky 13. Films such as "The Look 2000," "Heather Hunted," "Torch" and "Performance" are now things of the past. Now she has moved from adult films to pursue more of her musical talents.
Robin interviewed Heather in 2001.
KEVIN AVIANCE, Entertainer
(Recorded 2001)
(From Kevin Aviance web site)
The entire Queenmother.tv and Mothernyc.com community was saddened and outraged by the vicious attack on the beloved star KEVIN AVIANCE on June 11, 2006. Kevin Aviance does not fit into one category of entertainment. He is at once an entertaining performer, a recording artist whose songs top the charts and vibrate through the club world, an innovator of fashion and style, a model and muse of top designers, a talented and studied dancer, or, as he likes to call himself, an "Entity." Whatever one decides to label him, one fact is clear: everything he touches seems to turn to gold, and fans cannot get enough of this energy.
Kevin Aviance's music is a mixture of underground funk and bustling house rhythms, performed with such energy, fervor, and wittiness that everyone is out of their seats, letting loose, and dancing when he hits the stage. Aviance's debut album, "Box of Chocolates,' (produced by Wave Music) includes "Cunty," a club cult hit, "Din Da Da," which reached number one on the Billboard charts, and "Rhythm is my Bitch," which rose to number two on the Billboard charts. Aviance's style is unrivaled - he has the glam and funk appeal of Missy Elliot, the unique and unabashed gender-bending style of Marilyn Manson, and the avant-garde fashion sense of David Bowie in the 70's. Aviance has performed with a list of luminaries any up-and-coming artist would dream of, including Madonna, Whitney Houston, Cher, Lil' Kim, Mary J. Blige, Natalie Cole, Cindy Lauper, and Bette Midler.

She has become a sought-after speaker, having lectured at such venues as the Smithsonian Institute, the American Psychiatric Association's national conference, and the World Congress on Sexology, as well as several sexuality conferences and universities including Princeton, Columbia, Wellesley College and New York University. NICK SCOTTI, Actor
Nick Scotti was born in Queens, New York, on May 31st, 1966, the son of an Italian construction worker. He was raised in the neighborhood, where even at an early age, singing seemed to come naturally for him. He immediately caught the eye of numerous photographers and soon began his career as a male model for such names as Valentino, Yves St. Laurent, Thierry Mugler, and the late Gianni Versace.
Nick's first album, "Wake Up Everybody," was released in 1993. The album contained 10 songs, including the Madonna-penned "Get Over," and several of his own original compositions and it rose to #3 on the Billboard charts. In 1994, Nick released the hit dance single, "Wild Planet/Love So B."

MARGARET CHO, Comedian
Margaret Cho was born Dec. 5, 1968 and raised in San Francisco. "It was different
than any other place on Earth," she says. "I grew up and went to grammar school
on Haight Street during the '70s. There were old hippies, ex-druggies, burnouts
from the '60s, drag queens, and Chinese people. To say it was a melting pot -
that's the least of it. It was a really confusing, enlightening, wonderful time."
Margaret Cho's success as one of the country's premier comedians has been groundbreaking.
And it's as much for her distinctive humor as for her enormous contributions as a social
equalizer.
Robin interviewed Margaret in 2001, shortly after 9/11.

would change forever and continue on to this day. Donnie has a world-wide
following with all ages both gay and straight.
